Campbell River 50k

Posted on 02 November 2009 by Island Cup

Sunday Sept 5th, 2010
Event Description

This epic cross-country event is staged at the PRT Nursery on the outer edges of town bordering the Pumphouse and Snowden Demonstration Forest.  This area is the heart of Campbell River’s old school cross country and offers well over 100Km of technical, and fast singletrack that is sure to leave you wanting more.

The event consists of two loops, starting at finishing at the Nursery, and is made up of 98% singletrack!  The total distance for the event is a bit more than 50Km, as each lap measures approximately 27Km in length.

We encourage all participants to be prepared to be self sufficient at all times, but there will be three aid stations set up on the course.  The first station is at Riley lake, the second at the intersection of Lost Frog and Fred, and the last one will be at the start finish area.

In 2009, we started a new tradition for the event, and will again be offering everyone who participates, a world-class meal from the wood fired pizza oven that was constructed at the start/finish area!  Who doesn’t like pizza after a long ride!

Free camping is provided at the start/finish area of the challenge for the entire long weekend. Port-O-Potties and water are on site. Bring your tents or trailers and enjoy not only the race, but the local area and activities. We encourage you to make a long weekend of this adventure; not only to go one on one against a beautiful and demanding trail, but also to see the best North Vancouver Island has to offer with family and/or friends.

TRAIL DAY: Guided trail rides and runs the day after the race for all participants, families and friends for various levels of fitness and abilities. Start time 11:00am on Sept 6th.

  4. Scott Says:

Yes, there will be a Super D series this fall. So far I know that the finals will probably be in Port Alberni at the “fear factor DH” close to Halloween.
I will be putting on a Super D timed event in Victoria (Hartland) date TBD.
I have also hear talk of a race in Courtenay, maybe Nanaimo and Mt. Washington.
With the Spring series now finished we will have more time to get things rolling for the fall.
